District 10 Democrat Bill Barnes is one of San Francisco’s emerging new political leaders. At 33 he has already made a mark in city politics having worked on crucial economic development, affordable housing, public safety, transportation, budget and health care issues that impact San Francisco residents on a daily basis. He’s an experienced legislative aide having served in Mayor Willie L. Brown’s administration, as Chief of Staff to Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, and as a Board of Supervisor’s aide to Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier and until 2006, to Supervisor Chris Daly.
Now, as a candidate for Supervisor, Bill is committed to putting his tenacity and know-how to work for the residents of District 10. The diverse communities of Potrero Hill, Bayview Hunters Point and Visitacion Valley each face unique challenges. Deep cuts in San Francisco’s budget threaten vital services, our local employment base and the ability of already struggling families to make ends meet.
As a renter, Bill understands the need for more affordable housing and how an unstable housing market impacts the community. He’ll work to ensure renters can continue to know they have a home here. Like many San Franciscans, Bill doesn’t own a car so he know’s first-hand we need safe, reliable public transportation. His own experience with HIV means he understands how important it is to protect funding and access to community health care services.
Already, key members of the community are endorsing Bill as he builds the campaign necessary to reach out to voters and earn their support. Please, sign-up to get updates from the campaign. We’ll see you out there!
